Final Free-Choice Project Reflection:May 30, 2013
1. My final project is a mug. I made a cup looking figure on the pottery wheel with the red clay, and put a handle on it when I was finished. It took me one day to make it ono the wheel, and another day to put on the handle. Then I had to glaze it, so it took me about three full days or a little more.
2. I think the good and strong parts of my free choice was the glaze job because it turned out really cool. I did Amaize Blue and it is a blue with yellowish green dots bursting with it.
3.I think I could have dont better at making it a better shape because it isn't very even and it isn't the same thickness all around. I also could have done getter with smoothing out the handles and making them look better.
4. The overall meaning of my free choice can be used for water or any beverage because it is a mug. I am trying to communicate with dinnerware. A detail I used to reflect the theme is putting on a handle.
5. Two of the elements I used would be form and color because I shaped it into something making it look like a cup and then I glazed it giving it color making it pop out to the naked eye.
6. Two of the principles I used were rhythm because of the color burst I did and balance because if you cut it down the middle, you would get the symmetry bilateral.
7. I learned from this project that sometimes free choice doesnt always mean free choice so you have to just deal with it and do what you got to do. You could apply this to the future because a lot of times in life you have to just go with it.
8. My favorite thing in clay class this year was using the wheel, so I wanted to make my free choice on the wheel since it was our last project. I then got red clay and made a cup looking shape on the wheel! I made one that didnt turn out the first time, so then I made another one. Then I went for exceeding and made another one on the wheel. I added handles to both of them making them both mugs! I wasn't planning on adding handles, but I had to.
9. My project was kinda planned and kinda by chance. I knew I wanted to make something on the pottery wheel so that was planned but the shape was by chance. I had to adjust the shapes that I origanlly wanted to make because I had to add a handle on it. So, I did a cup looking shape so the handle would look good on it. The challenge that I came across was adding a handle because it was called free choice mr purdy style.
10. Yes I feel like it is a worth while projects becasue it is a free choice so you have many options you can do.but I would like free choice Lindsey style instead of free choice Mr Purdy style. I dont really have any plans for summer.
